Temporal Stasis

1994 4 track demo:

Bob: Ok. Imagine you've just woken up from a thousand years' sleep. You've just revived from some kind of suspended animation that you subjected yourself to, in a vain attempt to outlive and escape some mental burden of guilt, only to discover upon awakening that your motive for fleeing through time has not been assuaged during the inervening years... Not to be confused with Cryonaut. If, just for shits and giggles, you want to imagine being woken by seven foot tall sentient cockroaches, be my guest. I kind of had that in the back of my mind when I wrote it. I was trying to capture an emotional impression, rather than tell a story, but big honkin' cockroaches can be entertaining, especially if they can sing and dance. Perhaps the song's protagonist is the guy who mutated or radiated or otherwise did something bizarro to the cockroaches, enabling them to take over the world. Could be.

Ben: A very cool song. This song gives me time to play spaciously and breathe. Yeah, I can play softly, sometimes....when I'm not eating nails and breaking kevlar snare drum heads. Breathing is good. I like it. I think I'll do it more often.

Bass Solo

I've been waiting a thousand years,
Keep evading a thousand fears.

Eyes can cry a million tears,
Disguise my eyes 'til the water clears,
Eyes can cry a million tears.

Anticipating an end to pain,
So frustrating, can't feel the rain.

Weird Shit

Sleep can hold a million dreams,
I close my mind and ignore the screams,
Sleep can hold a million dreams.
