Bas: The "who controls your eyes controls your mind" is a warning from Tim Leary, from when he made a presentation at the University of Manitoba, back in the early 1990s. It was a key piece of his message at the time, and he repeated it several times throughout his presentation. This is one of the key themes of the Wheel - about people drugged into submission by information manipulation and used as a cash crop.
I see you huddled in your caves
Sleepily sucking on a glass teat
The smiling faces of recombinant stereotypes
Show you the way to cope with the world
Tell you what to fear
And what to desire...
I see you scrunched into 500 horsepower lemming tins
Hurtling nowhere at lethal speed
Drunk on depression 'cause you can't afford the things
The plastic smiling faces told you to need
You don't see me until it is far too late
I see you lying in the street
Clotted blood and filthy rags
Vomit puddled 'round your face
Waiting for your turn to die
And you don't see me...
I see you marching off to school, or work, or war
Numbered product in a mass production run
Ground on the wheel 'til they can't take any more
Then let the carcass dry in the sun
And you don't see me
Until it's far too late
Read between the lines
Who controls your eyes controls your mind
Wake up from your sleep
Or learn firsthand what fate awaits the sheep
